Stake Youth Missionary Experience Coming This Fall

A Unique Missionary Experience

We are excited to announce a unique missionary experience available to all youth in the stake.

The stake presidency will “call” all youth on a short-term mission this fall. bishops and ward young women’s presidents will work together to prayerfully determine youth companionships. Ward councils will select a few families in each ward to be taught by these youth companionships. Each companionship will teach two lessons during the month of October, one lesson each to two of these identified families. Companionships will work together to prepare a short, 15-minute lesson on one of three topics (chosen by the youth): the atonement of Jesus Christ, the plan of salvation, or the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Scheduled visits will include eating a meal with the identified family, followed by the 15-minute lesson.

All Youth Are Invited

Participation in this experience is voluntary, but we invite all youth to participate. The stake council has felt strongly about offering this experience as a way to help all youth consider, prepare for, and feel the spirit surrounding full-time missionary service.

Schedule

On September 13 (Sun.) from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, at the Franklin Stake Center, the stake will host a kickoff fireside for all youth. The mission leaders from the Tennessee Nashville Mission, President and Sister Stepan, will attend, as well as several full-time missionaries who will lead breakout sessions helping youth learn effective teaching practices.

Between September 13 and October 25, companionships will work with local leaders to prepare to teach. Companionships will have the opportunity to visit and teach two families from their ward.

On or near October 25 (Sun.), each ward will have a special sacrament meeting, where some of these youth companionships will share their testimonies or experiences teaching and how their mission experience helped them draw closer to the Savior.
